Nutrition Policy
The
purpose of this policy is to enhance healthy eating choices for our members. First A.M.E. Church will increase the
proportion of nutrient dense foods found in fruits and vegetables, and decrease
salt, sugar and fats in all church based food events to improve nutrition. The standard in which we will operate shall include
food preparation such as healthy cooking techniques, vegetarian options,
low-fat and reduced sugar, the use of non-trans-fat oils, and water as an
alternate optional beverage during meetings, classes, special events, and
catered events.
Procurement Policy
The
ministry will assist event and meeting planners with developing healthier menus
for scheduled church sponsored gatherings; therefore requiring a greater
purchase of seasonal fruits and vegetables from church vendors. Menus established/created will follow church
nutritional guideline standards.
Active Living Policy
The Health and Wellness Ministry will encourage all ministries of First A.M.E. Church to promote active living during church activities as well as in daily living. The ministry will educate and promote movement in meetings by encouraging ministries to take “Stretch/Stress Breaks” after 45 minutes to 1 hour of meeting time.
